265W MPPT Solar Package on 2020 Adrenaline 27kb

new to this forum but not new to forums or RVs .... just bought this 2020 Adrenaline 27kb last week ... it has the 265W MPPT Solar Package. first off the dealer has no clue about the solar system ... first question, is there a solar controller in this system?? the battery voltage has remained at 12.3v while sitting on level ground, facing east/west for over 3 days in the bright sun with nothing turned on during the 3 days (no load) .... the dealer on delivery could not find a "solar controller" or tell me how the solar system is hooked up and thus could not tell me how to test output .. i downloaded the owners manual and it has nothing in it about a solar system .. i am at a total loss with nobody to turn to for help.

silence is deafening

went online to FR Adrenaline Help site and email thru that site to Charles Hood asking question about the "solar package" .. site said i would receive response within 48 hrs .. so far nothing, hope he is well and not a victim of CV-19 ... called the GM of the dealership and he has nothing of help .. IF i could find out who mfg this factory "solar package" MAYBE their help tech could give me some ideas .... this is my first FR camper, have had 5 other campers, all from Keystone and i have NEVER run into anything like this before

got this reply from FR .... "We have done some digging and found that the remote panel, for some reason, was accidentally omitted. we are covering it under warranty to obtain the Remote Display and data cable needed plus the labor. We are very sorry for the confusion and frustration. We are now on the right path and will get this done for you." NOW, what else did they forget to install on this new TT???

You might be WAY better off tackling it yourself. Before we bought our used Rockwood, we were considering new, and I wanted roof solar prep. The dealer said he could just do the prep himself. I asked him if he had ever done it before. Nope. I asked if there would be MC4 connectors on the roof for me. He said "MC What?". I figured we would do it ourselves.

you could be right ... maybe i should have done this myself, only time will tell .,.. appointment is for monday 7/27/20 ... let's see how long it takes them to just plugin the controller/monitor, mount the monitor and verify the system is working ... would hope the dealer is better than the factory .... this FR TH wiring looks like a 4 yr old did it ... have had many other RV over the yrs and NEVER saw anything so BAD .... wires hanging loose behind walls so stuff does NOT work ... wires hooked up backwards (polarity) wires just hanging under the trailer nearly touching the ground ... stab jacks hooked up backwards ... overall a real electrical mess ... will report back when the solar job is done and working .. after all this is a factory 265W solar setup, MAYBE somebody knows how to fix it

Welcome to the world of modern RV's. You are not only purchasing something to go camping with, you are purchasing a hobby that will often last for years. If not fixing what the factory did or didn't do, you'll also spend a lot of time adding modifications.

Just when you have it all working the way it should and modified just the way you like it, it will be time to trade in and hit the "reset" button.

Angry

talked to service rep at dealer and they got the parts .. setup appointment, out 2 wks, took it in 2 days early for appointment, rep said they would start on monday and be done that week .... i heard NOHING, so went to dealer after 8 days, different service rep says NOTHING was done because the parts box did NOT have the "remote display & data cable" ... that is what was missing from the factory!!!!!!!! the rep SAYS he talked to the solar mfg (Jaboni) and they drop shipped the needed parts, he has NO idea when he will get the parts ... note my email from FR tech support said the "remote display & data cable" was being shipped to the dealer because the factory failed to install on assembly line ..... 2 months and still nothing, summer will be gone soon and my NEW camper will still be new at the dealer ...

it was just two weeks left to the scheduled trip with the new camper, SO i stopped by the dealer to tell him i would pick it up in 3 days weather it was done or not ... service rep says camper is done and they had called me 4 days ago and left a message ... NOBODY left any message to my phone ... looked at my camper and sure enough the data cable and remote display were in and appeared to be working .... got the paper work and when reviewing what was done i saw the name on the warranty form was WRONG .. they had made out the paper work for somebody else and had called and left a message to them, saying the camper was done ..... checked #s on the camper and sure enough it was my camper .. went back the next day (yesterday) with the right truck and brought it home ... 8 weeks to get the dealer to install something that should have been done on the assembly line .... good news is the solar unit seems to be keeping the 2 batteries at full charge while i am finishing up details inside the camper ... radio, 3 fans and 5 led lights and still full charge sitting in the sun .. next morning batteries at full charge, very cloudy skies and solar float at 13.4v

256w factory solar ...

RV sitting in the driveway get direct sun right now from about 7a to 6:30 p .. while working inside the rv i have the living room led lights, two 12v fans and the radio on ... i am getting stuff setup/fixed for an upcoming trip .,., we dry camp ... in the morning the bus voltage is about 12.7 volts before i turn stuff on, then drops to around 12.5 while working .. as the sun rises i see the bus voltage increase to about 13.3 ... after 3 or 4 hours of working on this stuff the voltage is still 13.2 to 13.4 ... i have 2 deep cycle 12v batteries ... since this is new i check it each evening and bus voltage is around 13.3 ... the short story is the solar unit is working to keep the battery voltage at around 12.7v before dark ... one day it rained most of the day and even while raining and the above stuff running the bus voltage still was showing a small charge .. the shore power has NOT been plugged in for the past 6 days .. note, No refrig usage and NO furnace usage .. i am VERY HAPPY with the way this is working so far .. will continue to update

2nd battery

now i have a question ... i have two deep cycle batteries hooked in parallel .. the wires from the solar controller are both hooked to the first battery .... i think since the batteries are hooked in parallel the solar wires should be hooked to both batteries .... like in, positive to one battery and negative to the other battery ... any ideas

The batteries should be wired with the load/ charge connected to the positive on one, and the load /feed negative on the other. Google has plenty of images to demonstrate it.

Either to a battery bus that is connected to the batteries, or directly the same way as discussed.

changed the solar wires so positive to positive battery and negative to second battery negative ... at first solar charger charged a little heavier than it was before changing the wiring, then settled out .. end of day 13.4v or better and next morning w/no load 12.6v (still fixing stuff, packing to leave, lites and radio on and off throughout this period)... getting ready to leave, so started the refrig on gas for the pass 3 days, end of day 13.4v and 12.3v each morning .. then it rained most of yesterday, a true test, could see the charge amps above usage, with the refrig running, end of day 13.3v and this morning 12.3v .. so as far as i am concerned this Jaboni 265w factory solar system is now working as it should ... would only need gen for TV, Microwave or AC

update

thought some would like an update on our factory solar setup .... just got back from six ( 6 ) days of dry camping, NO water, sewer or electric ... camped in a field at a gun range .. we used our Champion generator each morning for about 15 minutes to run the microwave, while we ate, did not need the A/C and did not watch TV and did not need the furnace .... the 265W solar did the rest for us even though we had overcast sky most days mixed with late afternoon showers, we would see the solar controller begin to show charge shortly after sun rise ... indicated voltage never dropped below morning lows of 12.2V and pre-dusk highs around 13.5V ... we have two ( 2 ) group 24 deep cycle batteries ... just the wife and me, i turn off the lights for her since she does not know how a switch works when she leaves a room . ... VERY happy with this factory system on our Adrenaline 27KB
