30 Amp EMS

Installed a Progessive Industries permanent 30 Amp EMS today. Ordered it Monday from Dyer's Online RV Parts and it arrived early today/Friday. Took about an hour to install and works great. I got the remote display and mounted it next to my power center. No more checking voltage at the pedestal and having my surge protector tempting any thiefs that may be looking for a cheap device. Now it's plug and play. The EMS will check all the needed voltage and wiring problems before allowing the camper to power up.

I thought exactly the same when I put mine in a couple of months ago. Add "not worrying about misplacing the portable one" and being in a frenzy on arriving at a campground & not having EMS protection (more than just 'surge')

And nothing is more reassuring than hearing the clunk of it kicking off the power and knowing that something COULD have fried.

Excellent mod. You'll like it.

Now, if I may suggest a couple things to supplement the EMS...

I bought a Prime Products 12-4058 AC Power Line Monitor so I can check the power pedestal before I even back into a site. Just use it with a 30A to 15A adapter.

And, because our EMS was shutting down power too frequently due to low voltage, I added a Hughes Autoformer to boost voltage so the EMS doesn't shut down.

Thanks for the link to the Autoformer. The portability appeals to me cause I could use it on either the MH or the trailer.

Amazon has it cheaper than the manufacturer for some strange reason

I think I bought mine from RVUpgrades.com. I bought the previous version that didn't have the surge protector since the EMS already provides that protection.
