I don't know anything about the 3100 watt, but I have two of the Champion 2000W inverter generators that I can run in parallel. So far, I have been very happy with them.

I bought two 2000 watt Champions at Costco for $469.00 ea and the parallel kit for $50. If I am not going to run the AC I just take one and use an adapter. I like the flexibility but the main reason I bought them over the 3100 watt was weight. I can load the the 48l pound 2000s but the larger one is just too much for my lousy back.
