370BL Factory Solar question

Hello all,

New to the forum as we just upgraded from TT to 5th Heritage Glenn 370BL!

It came with with the factory 100W solar panel and 30W Charge controller.

Question, the solar controller seems to only be connected to 1 of the 2 included batteries. The batteries are on separate sides in the front compartment but it appears nothing connecting the 2 for charging purposes. For testing I disconnected the furthest battery and no numbers changed nor the display inside the unit. That leads me to believe they aren't wired together. I talked to Forest River and the dealer and NEITHER were any help, frustrating! Can I just run wires between them to connect in Parallel so they both charge off the solar. Also, can anyone tell me what the 2nd battery even does?

Thanks in advance!!

Welcome to the forum its a great place to get your questions answered. First are you sure your controller is a 30W and not a 30A? I would say the batteries are connected in parallel what numbers are you taking about changing. A quick check is plug into shore power and check both batteries with your multimeter if they read the same they are connected. There is no need to connect your solar to both batteries. JMHO

Thank you SeaDog for the reply!!

Yes my bad it is 30A controller. The numbers I'm referring to are the AH and another number on the controller itself.

I did some investigating this morning, disconnected 1 battery and moved some wires around and figured out yes they are both being used and charging at the same time. We've had about 5 days of no sunlight and both batteries are down to 11V. I'm surprised they are that low though because I always turn off the battery disconnect switch but the inverter stays on. It must draw allot of power!!
