4k Onan Generator Exhaust Glowing.

Have a 2014 XLR 27Hfs. It has the 4k Cummins Onan generator installed. Generator starts up and runs fine and sounds good, however the exhaust glows orange.

This leads me to belive the carb is clogged/out of adjustment and running lean or the muffler is clogged. I bought it used and found a old carb in a box and the one on generator looks brand new.

What's weird is when you turn ac on(put a load on generator) it seems to go away.

So my question is where to start. Any info on making sure carb is tuned properly or how to remove generator to see if muffler is clogged(no access to it while it is still on camper)

Check the exhaust for wasp nest.

I had a mud dobber build a nest in my Motorcycle exhaust. Drove 4 miles around the block and it caught on fire. Luckily I was close enough to home and was able to call my wife to meet me outside withe the garden hose. While I drove back to the house. If I would have stopped along the road it would have burned the whole thing. Still cost over $1k to get a new exhaust.

Buy a borescope that hooks to your phone to check the exhaust. You can also cut the exhaust off then splice it back together if you don't want to pull the generator.
