50 amp cord

I need a few feet of 50 amp cord to get my Hughes EMS hardwired (and placed) into the spot I want it in. Is this wire from HD good to use?

Don't plan on (or think I'll need) any splicing but - - just in case - - what are best splicing methods for wires this size.

Thanks.

That cordage will be fine. I used the same (from a different supplier) to install my Hughes unit in the power cord bay.

As far as splices, block splices with screws are the best for 6 AWG. You can insulate them with heat shrink or many wraps of electrical tape. I carry a set for temporary use if it ever becomes needed.

That's the cord I used. Also used it to make extension cords for my camper.

You shouldn't need to splice. Remove the existing cord from your breaker box, attach it to the EMS in, attach your new cord to the out of the EMS and then to the breaker box.

I used a 50 amp range cord and bought a female outlet to wire in our EMS. That way I had terminals to wire to and can remove it from the system if it has to go in for repair. You get about 3 to 4 feet of cord. Bought 2 of each.
