Actual voltage may be higher or lower because of the demand or the power company's supply voltage but the voltage on each hot leg to neutral should be equal. If they are not the campground supply service may have a problem. However even if you have the correct voltage at your power center you may still may have a serious problem. All volt meters do not place a load on the circuit when measuring voltage so all you need is 1 strand of wire to give you a correct reading but when you put a load on the circuit with a badly corroded neutral you may do great damage to your rig. Without a solid neutral the voltage divides between the resistance on each leg in the trailer on 50 amp services. I have worked on marina power for 23 years and have seen this many times. Under loads you can see voltages such as 180 volts on 1 leg and 50 volts on the other. Either way it will always add up to the supply voltage. Sorry for the long post but that is why a SURGE PROTECTOR IS MANDATORY.
He had it wired with 120 on ground and neutral/common and 0 on ground and leg.

Looks like you all twisted my arm good enough, I guess I will be investing in a surge protector!

This has been a good discussion for all. I hope it was truly a good learning experience. I think it gives people like me, after working in the wood business for 55 years, a better understanding of what can happen when we don't protect our RV electrical systems.

Yep, that first pics tells all......and why those who are knowledgeable enough to use multi-testers should do it every time before plugging in. I probably own 10 or more multi-testers and never have one handy when I need it.

You can also make your own outlet testers, as I did, from info here (and keep it next to my power cord, don't ask why I can't do the same with a multi-tester)). This is a great site. with all kind of info. Click on the outlet testing tab on the left.

I have always had my multi meter in my tool bag in the truck(tool bag stays in truck). I have always assumed that the shore power at any campground is wired correctly, was I ever WRONG!....well I shall NEVER assume any more! Hardest lessons learned are the best to learn from!

If it were my fault I could beat myself up and not go to jail. It was the fault of the RV park owner and I can't beat him up, if I do, I go to jail....I am too cute to go to jail.

Since we're on topic of questionable wiring at campgrounds, check out this mess at one campground I stayed at.

There was a person on this site that was camping in NB several years ago when a buried neutral wire was damaged. All the trailers in the area had damage to their electronics. If i am not mistaken one to the trailers was lost to fire.

Yea, me too. Ordered it this afternoon. I've replaced a refrig board twice in my old unit. Hopefully that will not continue to happen with my new unit or even worse.

110V+220V = $2049.19 in damage

Well for all those of you who are keeping up with my problem that was caused by a 50amp shore power receptacle that was wired wrong here is the latest. The dealer,Southern RV in Lafayette, La has been awesome dealing with me and all my request trying to cover all my tracks to. I received the estimate and it is $2049.19, for now. Once all components are changed they will have to perform another diagnostics test to make sure there is no further damage. I notified the owner of the campground yesterday morning and I was treated like a piece of s%!t under his shoe. When I told him who I was his tone changed. I told him the amount, he said he wanted it in writing so I told him I would send the estimate to him in an email to prove I am not lying. While I was in the process of asking him if he had any questions he hung up on me, REAL MATURE for a business man! A little over 2 grand in damages and this clown offered me $500 and spare parts from FEMA campers, he has proven again he doesn't have the testicular fortitude to take responsibility for his mistake!
