A/C Soft Start

What are you guys installing/using? My Geo Pro 16BH had a 13,500BTU A/C and I want to install a soft start in it before next year so my generator will run a little easier, especially if I need to run the microwave to heat something up.

Soft start

I installed a Supco "SPP6--SUPER BOOST" in the 13.5 on my Apex...seems to start & work well. There are kits that include relays and timers that reportedly work better...but, they're much more expensive, too. (Microair's "Easy Start" is one of them & may be worth a look.)

I thought my start capacitor worked well, too.

However, under some conditions, my Yamaha 3500EB would not start my 15K Coleman Mach 3 reliably.

After seeing a Honda 2000 start one, I installed the Micro-Air Easy Start and was shocked that the Honda actually DID handle starting it.

Worth the money if you start with a generator or run a 50 amp camper on 30 amps often. Installation was "shockingly" easy.

Easy Start- Easy Decision

I added the Micro Air Easy Start and now my Ryobi 2200 starts and runs my Coleman Mach 15,000 A/C. Perfect!

The technology used in the Micro Air Easy Start has been around for quite some time and with all the RV AC units being sold by Airxcel(Coleman) you'd think they'd be incorporating a version of it into their units not only to ease starting loads on RV park power grids but for the benefit of all those who want to run them on small generators.
