A/C unit trips breaker

Don’t know if this belongs in this thread…but my A/C unit trips my rv breaker when plugged into house after a few minutes. Runs cold while it runs. Any ideas?

Is that a 30a circuit? Most house circuits are 20a. Or what else is on that circuit?

Which breaker? The main or the AC breaker?

If it is cooling well it could just be a weak breaker. Unless you have a clamp on ammeter I would try a new breaker.

As mentioned, need more info as to 'what' breaker in your R/V trips? (main or branch circuit)

Is the unit a 13.5k or 15k?

Plugged into your house... how?
Do you have a 30a R/V outlet?
Are you using an adapter into a 15a/20a duplex or GFCI outlet?

Dont make the same mistake I made. We came home from a 2 wk trip and my wife did not turn off the electric hot water switch.

I did not know this and when I turned the ac on to cool so we could remove all the stuff we had packed the breaker would blow. I thinking what the heck, you worked perfectly before the trip when I packed up.

Yep it was the electric hot water heater and ac plugged into a 20 amp garage outlet and it could not handle it. It can handle the ac just fine but not both at the same time.

Hope this helps
