I usually drag out the Hughes AutoFormer only after observing park voltage but that's more and more often these days. As noted in a Youtube video a voltmeter is an essential thing in a camper. Avoid the types with a mechanical needle -- been thru two which were both inaccurate (albeit adjustable) and which eventually shorted out.
