Awning only works on shore power.....

My 2018 shamrock has been great. But a couple trips ago awning would only work on shore power, not 12v. Slide works on 12v. Battery tests out fine. But if i forget awning before i unplug shore power, have to plug back in to retract and go home. Any idea what would cause that ? I had a MH for many years and thought i had experienced every electrical problem possible, but i was wrong. THanks.

What did you test the battery with, a multimeter or the 4 idiot lights?

Multimeter. And if battery is pulling in slide it certainly takes more amps than the awning i would think.

I concur that battery is probably fine if it pulls in the slide. Lost a connection somewhere between Bat and Awning switch, which you probably figured out by now. I'd start at the junction box where all the Bat connections come together. Usually somewhere on the frame under the trailer. Search for any fuses that may be in-line.

There is usually a connector in the arms somewhere between the side of the camper and the awning motor. Locate it and unplug it and reconnect it several times to clean the contacts. That may help. The awning motor requires less current than the slide motor so somewhere in the awning motor circuit you have a high resistance connection.

Thanks folks. I’ll be out in a couple weeks and will check out these possibilities.

I agree. It may even be the motor, itself.

Thanks all. It was the 2 pin connection at the motor. The aluminum pins had some corrosion. A gentle rub with some fine sandpaper and a reconnect and all set.
