The battery monitor lights are as worthless as the tank monitor lights.
I can't believe manufacturers are still using them as they are pretty much totally worthless for either system.

Also if you are plugged into shore power, the battery monitor lights WILL say full charged because it is reading the converter voltage not the battery.

Anytime you are plugged in to a power pedestal at a campground the battery will register full unless it is a completely dead battery. Even then I’m not sure the monitor wouldn’t show a full charge because the converter/charger is working when plugged into power. The time to check the battery monitor is without a 120v source hooked up to the RV.

Right on picker & Oakman !!!
I am going to start by unhooking the Batteries and trying to test them,,, I believe 1 or both are Bad ??? Monitor has always worked pretty good in the past,,, but has read full ever since winter,,, even after a couple of months of being unhooked it read full,,, I am thinking maybe after unhooking it will reset ???
I will be checking it out in a couple of days !!!
What brand of 12v Deep Cell Batteries do you guys think is best ???
Only batteries I have bought in years is Motorcraft,,, Great Batteries !!!
But I am guessing they do not sell RV batteries ???
Sorry I did not mean to hijack the thread !!!

Wait 24 hours AFTER you unhook them to get a true voltage reading at the terminals of each battery. Anything less than 12.4V means loss of capacity...but still OK for limited "off plug" use. Anything less than 12.2 means less than 50% capacity and time to replace.
If you RARELY if ever camp without electricity...save your money and head to Walmart for Everstart deep cycle/marine dual purpose batteries cause you don't NEED real deep cycles since you never DO deep cycle. (Like me!). If you DO boondock...then a pair of Trojan deep cycles is an excellent value on a cost per amp delivered over the lifetime. Deka also makes a good TRUE deep cycle...look for DC in the model number.
Motorcrart does not make batteries...they buy from others and relable. Johnson Controls which makes for Motorcraft currently also makes for Walmart.

A 24 volt battery will be very bad if you use it, all of the items in your camper are designed for 12v, 24 v will probably damage these items, and now your 100 dollar battery is 1000 or more in repairs

Walmart does not sell 24v batteries....I think he means a GRoup.24 sized battery which will be fine... the but it took me by surprise for a few seconds too!.

Get the largest size that will fit the space you have in the MarineDC everstart line. The Maxx batteries are starting batteries. Group 27 or 31 have more amp hours than group 24 for that one night a year when you need them!
Good luck!
