Battery Assistance...

Hello...I own a 2015 Forest River Travel Trailer 832IKBS. The original single 12V deep cycle battery is now official deceased. I wish to replace it with like kind. On fixed income so can't afford some of the ultra priced batteries I am seeing on the net. I never dry camp and always keep shore power connected. What would be a decent replacement battery for my needs that won't break the bank? Thanks to all.... Happy camping...

I would head to Walmart and just buy a Group 24 marine/deep cycle battery.

Sounds like you just need a battery for when regular power goes out or for when you are towing trailer and a battery for emergency brake activation is necessary.

May also find an inexpensive Group 24 battery at an Auto Parts store or one of the many "battery only" stores that might be near you.

Walmart shows one for $75 which is about as low as they get in this day and age unless a store is offering a great sale price on one.

At that level brand isn't all that big a deal as there's a good chance most come from one of two or three manufacturers.

X2
For your type of camping, any inexpensive group 24 battery will do.

Moved thread from the General Community Discussion section to the Electrical and Charging Systems sub-forum since the OP's questions are specific to that sub-forum and not general questions.

Battery...

Thanks for the feedback on the battery question. I found one at Wal-Mart and one at AutoZone...both around $105. The CCA seems a little more with the AutoZone one so will probably opt for that one. Thanks again for all your recommendations. Happy Camping....

CCA doesn't mean anything in a TT. If you can find the Amp Hours, that would be a better measure for you.

Forget CCA rating, it is useless for trailer applications because trailers don't have engines.
Suggest that you Google "the 12 Volt Side of Life". It's a good primer on the two different RV electrical systems and how to understand batteries.

Another vote here for not paying attention to CCA.

$98 at AutoZone for DuraLast Group 24 Deep Cycle/Marine.

Often amp hour ratings are not shown. Pay no attention to CCA but rather the RC (Reserve Capacity) which is the number of minutes the battery can deluver 25 amps of current. The higher RC is the better choice when comparing two non (true) deep cycle batteries.

If you never boondock and always have shore power connected, the only real use for a battery is the emergency breakaway brakes. For that purpose, all you need is this:
https://www.harborfreight.com/12v-16...ery-62586.html

Just make sure you connect shore power before running the slides in or out.

I would buy a new battery for my truck and put the one out of truck in camper and turn in camper battery for core that way you have a new battery in your truck.
