Battery Charge Fuse

What could cause the 25amp fuse that allows the batteries to charge while plugged in to blow? It has now happened twice.
Once the fuse blows the rv stops charging and the lights and battery operated stuff works until the battery runs down.

Typically it is a short circuit that causes a fuse to blow. Was it a fuse or breaker? I would inspect the cable from converter to battery, especially at points where insulation on cable may have been rubbed away and can make contact with the frame. I have no idea what equipment you have since there is nothing in your signature line, but on a trailer tongue, there are a lot of places where an unsecured wire blowing/vibrating around could short out like that.

Not familiar with your unit and don't know what a charging fuse is but when the fuse blows (assuming just for charging) does not your converter continue to power the 12Vdc items?

Sounds like it is the fuse for the charging component of the converter, although 25 amp sounds a bit light. Even my little trailer has a 35 amp converter, don't know what fuse size is on charger.

Still doesn't address why converter doesn't continue to power the DC items. The OP probably has an answer.

DOES what. He says when the battery runs down all DC items are off. Why doesn't the converter continue to power them? It should power them and charge the battery at the same time and if the battery is not there it should power them anyway. There must be something about his unit I don't understand and so I'm backing out. I hope the issue gets resolved.

It sounded to me like he is getting DC power out of converter (till batteries run down) just not from charger to batteries (fuse is blowing). I didn't see him write anything about battery running down with all DC loads off, unless it was deleted. Sounds like a short circuit in wiring to batteries, or a fault inside the charging component.

what 25 amp fuse? is it part of the converter or is is a standalone fuse in the 12 volt battery cables? 25 amps sounds low for a circuit that is supposed to recharge a battery.

i'm not sure i have seen a converter that provides 25 or fewer max amps.

Inverter

This may sound like a Crazy question… Does the 2019 Palomino Solaire 268 BHSK come with an inverter from the factory? I have been having issues with my batteries losing charge very fast. My service dealer is saying the unit had an inverter added and I need to disconnect it to fix the issue…

Do you have a 12v or residential refrigerator? Those rigs come with an inverter. It's possible that it was a customer's special order or they added it later.
When are you losing charge... when you're camping off grid or in storage?

12v fridge

I have the 12v fridge that came with the unit… I have put 3 batteries in the unit since November 21’. With in 20 minutes of unplugging the unit at storage the battery is dead.

Doubt it. But you should ask this question in the Palomino sub-forum, not the General Tech and Repair section.
