Battery connections.

Putting our Forest River Vibe 25RK to bed my daughters boyfriend disconnected all the battery cables. He is no longer in the picture and I am not sure which wires go to positive/negative terminals.
Two smaller wires have a piece of tape and part of a red letter. Two thicker wires have no identification.Click image for larger version

Red is positive, black is negative (ground). To be certain, the black wire should lead to a screw bolting it directly to the frame.
That takes care of the heavier wires, I'm at a loss for what the lighter wires are for. Anyone?

Tongue jack for one. Possibly TV charge connection or slides. Have to trace wires to see.

Good call. The tongue jack cable will likely have a fuse holder or circuit breaker wired somewhere along its length.

I’m still trying to figure out why he disconnected the wires in the first place!

A bunch of people remove and store their battery (batteries) when they “put their units to bed”.

If in storage for any length of time it's a good idea to disconnect batteries ti prevent slow leeching of power by LEDs on the lp detector, smoke detector, etc.

A simple disconnect switch is way easier, instead of removing the battery.
I stored my HTT at a lot for 4 months.
Just flicked the switch.
4 months later, batteries were still 90% charged.

True, but for some reason on mine even with the disconnect switched off, the 12V charging panel by the sofa is still hot. I'm thinking that was a mistake during the wiring that I intend to correct. I'm considering installing a cutoff that mounts directly to the battery post to ensure complete isolation.
