I put the same disconnect switch on my WolfPupper and it works great! I just wired mine per the instructions that came with it and have had no problems. If you mount it on top of the battery box be sure the seal it good with slillycone.
Good luck!

X3. After having shorted many wrenches, a few wires, etc. over the years, I can attest to the preference of disconnecting the negative side as close to the battery as possible. Reasoning, if the frame is left connected to the battery negative, contact between an energized positive conductor and any piece of the frame will result in a short circuit. Not the case with negative disconnected.

It's a circuit. Remove one terminal, it's no longer part of the circuit. Electrons cannot magically jump to remake the circuit. If you are on shore power, that's different, but we're just talking battery power. I installed a disconnect switch on the single ground wire connecting the batteries to the rest of the RV. I've shorted positive to the body accidentally while wrenching - not good.

I also trailer the 5er with the batteries connected, but have to connect anyway to raise the jacks.

As to automotive electrical circuits, since there is ONLY one negative connection and one source of energy, disconnecting the Negative is correct. This presumes the vehicle is not running.

However, if the RV is connected to shore power, the converter negative is typically connected to the frame. Thus disconnecting the battery Negative OR Positive does not resolve the issues of an accidental short by tool taking place.

The point is, that it makes no difference if it is in the Positive or Negative lead of the battery. One must also deal with the output of the converter if it is energized by being on shore power.

One needs to under the "entire system" when working with the RV electrical circuits. It is not singularly a battery, a converter, an inverter, or shore power.

AS I said, this applies only to straight battery power. Connection to shore power is different, since there is a second source energizing the system.
