Battery Disconnect Switch

My 2013 Mini Lite 2109S has a battery disconnect switch inside the trailer. The owners manual does not explain it's purpose and when to use it. I could just call my dealer, but I would like some input from actual users. Thanks in advance.

Disconnect battery switch only when not hooked up to shore power.

Otherwise leave "battery" connected.

When towing .
And when hooked to shore power.

Disconnecting keeps battery from draining.

The battery disconnect turns off electrical appliances when the RV is not in use. This is to prevent draining your batteries. Turn off the disconnect and pull out the key when stored. You will find that the disconnect does not turn off all electrical devices. Some RVr's install a second disconnect that removes all devices from the battery. This is helpful during long periods of storage. The devices left connected when the disconnect is off do pull power from the batteries at a very low rate and can damage batteries over a long period of time. The option to the second switch is to disconnect the cables on the battery during storage.
