Battery issues

Recently just purchased a 2009 Georgetown Class A 50amp and I’m coming from a smaller 30amp RV. .

How do you maintain the batteries plugged into shore power?

Currently when I plug in to 110 to allow the batteries to maintain a trickle charge the batteries are not maintaining a charge, all breakers are off except the breaker to the chaise and yet after being plugged in for 2 weeks both the storage batteries are dead and it killed the engine starting battery. What am I doing wrong?

If the breakers are off, how would the converter get power?

I don't know about your particular rig, but in general, you have to have the battery disconnect inside the rig 'off' so that the 'house' battery is connected. Then the house battery will be charged and in some cases, the chassis battery will also be charged.
It's possible that those batteries have reached the end of their useful life too.

Leave the breakers on and the battery disconnect on. Check the battery water level once in a while. If the batteries are healthy there shouldn't be a problem.

The person who designed that setup must have worked for Microsoft on the Windows design team. You know where you have to hit "Start" in order to "Shut Down".

Wouldn't it be so much simpler to label the switch "Battery" with ON meaning ON and OFF meaning OFF?

Regardless, Converter's breaker needs to be ON or no charge will occur.
