Battery not charging when hooked to shore power

Good morning all,
I just purchased a 2016 forest river grey wolf 26dbh a month or so ago. I put a new battery in it and gave it a full charge. The problem I am having is that when I am hooked up to shore power it is not charging the battery and when it drains down I lose power in the travel trailer. I checked all the fuses and they all look good. Anyone know what the problem might be? Thanks in advance!

Bad converter maybe??? Try putting an external battery charger on the battery and see if that works. IF SO, either the converter is bad, or the wiring to/from it might be loose or bad. That's my first thoughts on it.

Thanks! I put an external charger on it and it charges the battery and keeps everything running. I’ll check the converter wiring.

Make sure battery disconnect switch is on. Converters also have fuses on them

There are two high current fuses 30 or 40A either in the distribution panel or the back of the converter. They will blow if the battery is connected backward. Check to see that they are good. There is also a resetable breaker on the bottom inside of the frame near the hitch. Looks like the attachment below. Try pushing the small button on the side to reset it.

Here is where the high current/reverse polarity fuses are typically located in the converter. (inside red outline) Often times they get blown when replacing a battery and someone touches the cabling to the posts incorrectly.

Could've tripptripped the 12v resettable circuit breaker.

If it works with the battery the resettable breaker is good and the battery disconnect is connected otherwise w
He would get nothing. Op needs to check converter fuses 120 v breaker to the converter and should have a meter to check it so he can determine if the converter is bad

Yeah, I'm thinking the reverse polarity fuses are blown to the converter, since the converter is also what recharges the battery.

Very common thing.

Evidently they can blow for reasons other than just a reversed polarity. I over loaded things one day and had to reset the manual breaker under the tongue. Since I rely on shore power very infrequently, I was several trips down the road before I realized that the converter was not charging. (ain't solar wonderful). I had blown the 40 amp converter fuse too.

Yes, if the battery(ies) is/are severely discharged, the current output to charge the battery(ies) will sometimes be higher than the fuse protection and pop the fuse.
