Battery overload

We have just become owners of a Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite 8319SS. The trailer had been flooded by a hurricane. The 12v system works but there is a small device, about the size of my thumb, where the + side of the battery cable is connected to. it looks like an overload. I can't find any wiring diagrams to tell me what size overload it should be. If anyone has any info it would be appreciated, A wiring diagram would be perfect! Thanks

Wiring diagrams are not available for almost any R/V.

When you say battery overload are you possibly describing a 12v circuit breaker like the one I've posted a photo of?

Some are resettable (small button on side) and some are not.
They come in various amperages to meet the need of your circuit. (20a-30a-etc.)

Welcome to the forum! I see it is your 1st post!

If it's like the device 5Picker posted above (which can be plastic or metal) then the rating is stamped or printed on the side of it.

If it isn't readable most of them are 30 amp or 40 amp. Post a pic of it and we may be able to help.

overloads?

here is a picture obvious replacement due along with new wire terminals not sure if there will be any readable info on them. The power converter is a 55 amp and all DC circuits are 15 amp fuses.

Guessing from the wire gauges I would guess that they're 30 amp. That's what I'd try first and if they trip regularly for no reason I'd go to 40 amp.

converter fuses

I did just notice two 40 amp fuses on the converter board I think I should match them. Opinions?

before you match something make sure what you are connecting to. That wire may be to the slide if you have one its better to buy a new fuse/breaker then replace a motor. Clean the connections on the battery first.

The 40a fuses 'could' be the reverse polarity protection fuses for the battery and if so, you should match the circuit breakers to them if that is where the wiring from those circuit breakers goes.

It is hard for us to 'tell' you what to use when we really don't know how your unit is wired.

If you can read the gauge size on the wire anywhere.... if it's AWG 10 go with a 30 amp circuit breaker.
If it's AWG 8 go with a 40 amp.
Like others mentioned- Go with a 30 amp resettable and if you find you have to reset it often, try a 40.

On our 2109s the bottom one with all the wires going to it is the main 40A breaker and the other is a 30A that serves the slide.

Take them off and look for the markings to get the correct amp ratings.

I carry spares for both of ours -
