Battery Tender

Does anyone use one 1.25 amp Battery Tender to maintain two 12V batteries? I have two 12V batteries on my Geo Pro and was looking to maybe get one 1.25 amp unit to maintain my batteries over the winter. But the Rep on their website suggested getting two 1.25 amp units and connect one to each battery, also said if I only wanted to use one battery tender to maintain two batteries I would need at least a 3 amp unit. I seem to remember someone on here say they just used one 1.25 amp unit, but not sure if it was for 1 or 2 batteries. Thanks

If the two 12 volt batteries are wired in parallel, you would need to disconnect the wire link between them if you wanted to use two chargers.

I would try it with the batteries wired normally and with just one charger. Just watch that eventually the charger lights indicate a full charge. It may take a day or two. In the past I successfully used an 800 mA charger to maintain two 6 volt batteries wired in series.

You can charge your two batteries at the same time with a 1.25 charger. If low it may take a few days to "charge". It will work fine to "maintain" as a low amp charger should.
You could also charge them separately if they are fully disconnected from the wiring.

Do you mean in series? My truck batteries are parallel and I keep a tender on one which maintains them both.

No. I don’t mean in series. I’m sure your two 12 volt truck batteries in parallel would charge just fine with one charger. That’s what I suggested in the first part of my second paragraph.

Ah, I misread what you had typed. You are correct, my apologies.
