Unhappy

Received my Generac GP2200 (1700 Watt) today. Impressed with quality of unit and packaging..

Was not made in US was not made in China........made in Vietnam....
Decided on Generac because of our Whole House Generac Guardian 22KW.....it has worked flawless. Hopefully, the portable will do the same.

Why AMERICAN MADE?
I know I'm late to this thread but why?
I am sure that I can't get into why very little is made in NorthAmerica. Because of the no politics rule .
So why?

I just looked at the bottom of a Tekonsha Prodigy Trailer Controller. Big letters -----Made in USA.

That's one item at least

As for "Politics" this is more "Economics".

Amazing transformation has taken place in America over the past few years.

Some Honda generators are made in the US, while others are made in Japan, China, France, India, and Thailand. No matter where the individual unit was made, Honda has proven to be a very reliable and trustworthy generator for me for years. I wouldn't drop them from the running--especially if you happen to find one built in the US. I'd take a Honda over any other brand, no matter the country of manufacture, even understanding Honda is likely more expensive than most others. I believe they're worth it.

There are very high quality (and very low quality) products made in Asia and other countries. iPhones are mostly made in China for example. I would worry more about the brand reputation than where it's made.

As far as supporting American jobs, we have more job openings than employees to fill them right now in most cities, so I wouldn't worry about that. These days there are more people in other countries willing to work factory jobs than there are in the US (service jobs pay more than factory jobs in the US today), so there's nothing wrong with contributing to people being able to earn a living in their country if factory jobs are the best way they can do that.

Buy whatever you want.

Had closed frame inverter and it burned up, this works you don’t need to spend more money.

Why buy a soft start if you have two generators running in parallel and can turn one off after the A/C starts?

At 67db please keep it at home or the construction site.

Probably because A/C's "cycle". On to cool and when cool compressor shuts off. When warmer the compressor cycles on and now there's a good chance the single generator won't be able to start it.

More generator, run both, or install a soft start if one wants reliable A/C.

The initial start-up includes the air handler and compressor, so the load is greater than the compressor by itself during subsequent cycles.

But the surge needed to start a compressor dwarfs the fan motor requirements, and is the large majority of current draw.

Bruce

So, if you had a generator for 4 years and determined you needed a "high altitude jet" for the carb, who would you call? That was my situation a year ago with my Champion Gen that had been flawless up to my planned trip to Colorado and 10,000 ft boondocking. I called Champion Customer Service. They shipped me an appropriate jet (FREE) that worked great.

So, Champion Gens are from China but work well.

Obviously you didn't do enough research.
Anytime a generator company doesn't include the noise level rating of one if their generators, in their specs, that's almost always because they're hiding how loud it is.
It's rated at 67db, which violates every public campground rule that I know of, especially the National Park's noise rule.
That generator is louder than my $300 Champion 4000w open frame contractor-style generator.

Same for maintenance items like air cleaner or even information when you can't find, or don't understand, the owner's manual.

I called Champion wanting to buy an air cleaner element. They sent me two at no charge, including shipping.
