Best replacement converter

I need a new 100a converter. I wanted a progressive dynamic but it seems they only go to 80a. What would be the next brand choice?

why you need 100amps

what type and size battery
are you using a BIG heavy 12v load direct off the converter?

What converter are you replacing? If you want a fast charge for lithium, check the converter specs, you may be able to run a couple in parallel. I have a PD9160L converter. I also have an AIMS CON120AC12 that is wired to anderson connector that I can plug in for an additional 70A charging.

I have 300W of solar that pretty much handles my needs. I'm not a power user.

Assuming your existing converter is a smaller size.

For a 100 amp unit you will have to replace the 12 volt wires for the full 100 amps likely.

Please explain your need for 100 Amps?

I was just going to replace it with the same size that is has. There’s 2 lead acid batteries. So y’all think it would be okay to do 80a?.

Wow. That is a big one!

Are the batteries huge? Bus batteries.

Plan ahead. Do not know your situation but, the whole world is going lithium.

Another case of "bigger must be better". So why do you think you need a larger converter?

To do so will require replacing the wire, changing to a larger size, from the converter to the batteries. I seriously doubt that a 100-amp converter will charge the batteries any faster.

I don't advise trying to run two converters in parallel. If so, they must be matched for exact voltage output at all values of current. No need for me to explain why unless you are an EE.

If you are planning on converting to Lithium batteries, that is a different charging requirement.

I think the one he's replacing was 100amp.

As far as replacing it, I don't think you have a ton of choices without throwing down a ton of scratch, and then probably not a whole lot more. I don't personally have experience with anything other than Magnum (don't make one that big), GoPower (Not sure I'd recommend), and a couple of much smaller, and cheaper names. Victron (Haven't personally used) may be the best that I've heard of that might fit your bill.

Thank you NewToTheForce and yukongold for the help.
I didn’t know that 100a was a big converter, I just looked at what was there to see what I needed. Maybe I could go smaller but I feel there was a reason that size was in there.

Again, do not know about your battery bank.

I saw published that the maximum charging rate for wet cell batteries was 30%. Or 30 amps into a 100 amp battery.

For lithium it is 50%.

I knew there were limits but, never looked it up.

So assume your house battery must be 300 ah now. Otherwise it shortens the batteries life.

30% is about all a FLA battery will take unless the charger can deliver voltages far greater than the normal voltage ~14.x volts.

If one has two 100ah Lifepo4 batteries in parallel, 50% C-rate IS 100 amp.

Since most Lifepo4 battery installations in an RV that came with an OE 100 amp converter/charger have at least two 100ah batteries in parallel. No harm will occur with OP's setup.
