C921 bulb to LED

I'm trying to find a replacement bulb for my stove vent fan C921 bulb and change it to LED. I need a bright natural looking light not yellow looking, the warm white and cool white descriptions do not give you a good enough description to be reliable since they are not all using the same baseline. What are your recommendations? The standard bulb that comes with the unit is not bright enough.

The cool white you need is 6000K (Kelvin)
Look for the Kelvin rated bulbs with a high Lumen. (brightness)

crunchman nailed it;

3k - 3.5k is about the same color as a regular incandescent bulb puts out. The is my favorite. (warm white)

4k is a compromise between incandescent and sunlight

5k - 6.5k is an outside sunlight. (cool white)

Number of SMD LEDs - This is the number of LED chips on a socket and can vary with the type of chip used. If your want something about the same brightness as a corresponding bulb, I'd shoot for an LED that has greater than 36 SMDs per bulb (number of LED chips mounted on the bulb).

I bought my LEDs on e-bay, about 80 cents each. This link is for 921s, warm white:

Light Colour

SHORT TAKE - if you require a really "natural" light - like seeing what food will REALLY look like when you plate and serve it - then LED's are probably NOT what you are looking for. Stick with old fashioned glass light bulbs.

Same goes for the lights by the make-up mirror.

By their nature, LED chips emit a very narrow bandwidth of colour, or a hybrid of several narrow bandwidths. Whereas, heating up a piece of wire like Edison invented, in a glass bulb, emits a much broader spectrum of light.

Yeah, there are some real fancy LED's that purport to have balanced colour, what they really have is some very fancy chemistry in their chips, and complex assembly of multiple chips. Expensive, and their performance (colour) changes with time, faster than one might think.

Philips has a nice automotive replacement LED. That's what we used as it is also a night light to keep the kids happy when it's dark. I find it's too bright for other locations. Nice proper white and bright for that location.

I believe the 921 is a bayonet style bulb and is interchangeable with the T10.
We used what looked like a ping pong paddle fir the interior lights, but they would not fit on the range hood. We have daylight white 6000k on our range hood. These are bright and we love the bright white color.

See if you can find what you are looking for here:

Stick on LEDs

I bought some stick on LEDs on eBay for next to nothing, cut the wires to the old fixture, wired it in and stuck the new light on. Works great for me. I like the cool white myself, but my wife likes the warm white. The degrees Kelvin is the only consistent measure. It is trial and error to figure out which lights you like. Not all LEDs are created equal. Some are brighter than others. I'm old and like lots of light. I changed out all the lights in my trailer for about $20.

A couple years ago, we went the same route ... it was maybe $20 on eBay to get more than two full sets of LED "paddle" style bulbs with the T10 base - one set of "Warm" and one of "Cool." Figured we would just use the ones we preferred. Also found out all about the "funky" colors they produce, hence prior comments if you were concerned about realistic color.

OP / Reeac's post about " ... bright natural looking light not yellow looking, the warm white and cool white descriptions do not give you a good enough ... " prompted the info on LED "issues."

The 921 is a paddle style bulb that has one wire on each side of the paddle just like the bulb above the stove. I replaced mine a month ago and now have a nice bright light that uses less battery than the original that looked like a candle in a wind storm.
