Converter Issue

Hey Folks, New Here. Here is my situation. I bought a used 2010 Sierra 355qbq a couple years back. It's been parked in the same trailer park since. It had been running solely on the converter as I discovered last week (while troubleshooting my problem) that the battery was disconnected. I had lost all DC Power after what sounded like a surge in the panel. after finding the battery was disconnected and reconnecting it, everything came back however now the battery has died. I'm guessing the charger portion of the converter has failed. Is it possible to only replace the charger or do I have to replace the whole thing? Again, everything worked fine once I hooked up the battery.

How old is the battery ? and I assume that you checked all the fuses.

Yes all fuses are good. Not sure on the age of the battery. It's currently 2-1/2 hrs away. Could be the battery I guess?

I’d definitely have the battery checked...your local auto parts store can run it through tests and tell you if it is bad.

This is what I would do. List the make and model of the converter to the forum
1. Check battery and charge with a stand alone charger disconnected from rig
2. check the two big green fuses on the 12V panel with a meter to ensure they are good.
3. plugged into shore power check voltage at the battery should be somewhere 13V+ if the converter is working. If not use stand alone charger to provide 12V and keep battery charged. until you find out about parts or new converter
