Converter issue?

Just to lay some basics~
Seasonal sight always connected to shore power.
Battery new this spring.
The power to the campground had been shut off while a transformer was changed on Wednesday.
Temps have been in the lower 90* range for several days.

Friday we went to the campground late afternoon and went inside to turn on air conditioner. The fan came on but the compressor didn’t. The thermostat didn’t make the normal clicking sound when I turned the temp down. Turned on the lights to check the thermostat and they were very dim. Plug in voltmeter showed 119 in wall outlet. Checked battery gauge and it was on Empty.

Shut off air conditioner and went out to check breakers at pedestal. They were all on. Went back into the camper and shut the main breaker off for a minute and turned it back on. Turned on air conditioner and it kicked on like normal. Checked lights and they were beginning to brighten. The battery gauge showed 1/3 full. The refrigerator was cold at 35*. It is set to auto.

Everything began working normally but if we turned on lights the battery gauge would drop from full to 2/3. Today when turning the lights on the battery gauge did not move off full. Checked batter fluid levels and they were fine and giving off slight bubbles today. I did not have a battery tester with me.

Questions-

Did turning the breaker off and on again reset the converter?
Does this mean the converter is bad and needs replaced?

I have not heard the fans on the converter run for several months. But we don’t usually use a lot of overhead lights if that makes any difference.

I cannot find the make of my converter. When I look up the model and series numbers 7155/7100 all I find is a Parralax (sp) converter.

I was going to call a mobile rev tech but wasn’t sure at this point what to do. Everything appears to be working. Any thoughts or ideas you can give would be appreciated. Thank you.

Converter is working as the battery is charging.

If you have had the same battery since 2011, it is likely easily drained with the power being turned off and went to "empty" on your gauge.

I don't believe you need to do anything on a seasonal site with power all the time... however you may want to remove the battery and take it to a national auto parts store. Most are equipped to check the battery and tell you if you need a new one.

I shouldn't have reset anything. Obviously the batteries went dead after the 120 volt power was shut off. When it was restored the converter didn't begin recharging them. Cycling the breaker was no different than losing power and having it restored...but it seemed to work. I would keep an eye on that converter.

As far as the battery gauge is concerned, it measures voltage not charge and when the converter was killing itself trying to recharge from flat, your adding lights dropped the voltage a little with their additional load. The AC won't work without 12 volts, nor will the reefer, which is probably why you batteries went dead. If the power wasn't off for more than 5 or 6 hours, you may need new batteries anyway as they should have had plenty of capacity to handle things for that long.

The battery was new April of 2019.
