Converter Noise

Whenever we connect to shore power the fan in the converter goes for a while and then shuts off. Now when we connect the fan never goes off. Any ideas on what may be causing this??

It seems if I turn off the circuit breaker the AC the fans turns off, but otherwise it keeps going.

The fan in the converter is temp controlled and runs when the converter is under load. The normal short run is when it is charging the battery after hook up to shore power. if you battery is low or you have a heavy 12VDC load the fan may keep running. Check the battery. It would help if you let us know what Rv you have and what year.

In addition to what FlyBob said, I'd take the battery out and take it to a local auto parts store and have it load tested.

And each cell tested with a hydrometer.

Load testing a Deep Cycle battery won't tell you much.

That test is for starting batteries.

Hydrometer or an actual capacity test on Deep Cycles.

Go to a BATTERY store, not an Auto Parts Store. At least they know about batteries.

Thanks for the reply. It seems to stop once I turn off the breaker for the A/C. So I wonder if there is a problem there. I'll check to be sure the A/C is off for sure so it's not drawing a load. Also, would the fan run if I have my portable solar panel plugged in and charging the battery?
