converter question

2006 Sierra
Was wondering if anyone has experienced the converter in their camper making a sizzling noise. The fan works to cool it, but at times the converter makes a noise as if you can hear the electricity flowing through it, so to speak... Have been told by a dealer that they have experienced this with some brand of converters. Was told not to worry about it. Kinda hard not to worry when you hear this noise....

Thanks for comments

HMMMM, I've heard humming but never sizzling. That's just doesn't sound good to me. Do you have any kind of electrical smell, like insulation burning or anything that doesn't smell right?

I've heard buzzing transformers before and it's almost always something loose. A sizzling sound usually means a loose connection that's arcing. I'd try and find out what's causing it if it was mine. You might try and call the mfg of the converter and see what the service guys say about it.

Check the ground bar, the screws work loose. I had mine replaced under warranty due to it not charging battery. after you remove the cover you can see if any wires have melted. Good luck and be sure you are not connected to shore power when doing this.
