Dead battery

We are new to this, just bought our used 16ft wolf pup. Tried it out for the first time with no power and the battery went dead. Came home plugged in, charged battery and everything seemed fine. Next day battery was dead again. Something seems to be draining battery when parked. Can't figure out the problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Dan

Dead battery

Is it a deep cell battery or regular car battery? That may be something you could check. Since it was used it may have bad battery and won't keep a charge anymore. Check battery to see if there is a manufacture date.

You do have parasite draws on your battery. Radio if it has clock, fridge, co2 alarms. If you leave unplugged for a while you may want to instal battery disconnect or disconnect the battery when setting idle not plugged into shore power.

Battery is toast. Replace it.
Yes, there is a lot of paracitic draw on newer RVs, but dead in 24 hours indicates to me battery is gone south without you.

Check breakaway switch. If cable is pulled, it will kill battery quickly. Did the brakes work when you were towing? Also take battery to auto parts store, they can load test. If it was left parked with dead battery before you bought it, Battery may not be able to accept any reasonable charge. It will still show charged when on charger, but will drop quickly once disconnected. If you want to experiment at home. Charge battery, disconnect negative terminal from TT. Let it sit two days. Now measure battery with hydrometer or connect negative terminal and try lights. If battery is dead after sitting unconnected only option is to replace it.

Send a message via Yahoo to bob caldwell
Got a 12 volt test light?.... Insert it between neg post and cable.....Light on?....Draw.....Start pulling fuses and see if a fused circuit is where your draw is....

I will guarantee you there is a draw, probably more than one. On my Coleman 16FBS I had over 2 amps of parasitic draw.

If you have smoke or carbon detectors they could be drawing the juice. I would buy and install a battery cut off switch. Easy install and will solve your problem. Also if you battery has a bad cell that will cause it to go,dead.

If you are really killing your battery overnight, you have more than a parasitic draw. Earlier this week another member had a similar situation and it was his breakaway switch.
You can also check.
Fridge.
tongue jack light.
Outside lights.

Charge the battery leave it unhooked over night and check to see if it went flat on its own

How old is the battery there will be a sticker with a letter and number on letters a to l for the month number for the year I f manufacturer

Cold weather and if it sat dead or weak wreaks havoc on batteries
