Dometic LW3000 Plus Generator
While at the Columbus RV Super Show, saw the Dometic LW3000 Plus Digital Inverter Generator. Apparently, this is a new Dometic product, released late last year, early this year.
The spec's on the unit are:
Weight 59 lbs.
Color Black
Power Output 120V/60Hz
Engine Air-cooled, Four-stroke
Fuel Gasoline
Fuel Capacity 1.8 Gal
Receptacles Two AC, One DC
Rated AC Output (KW) 2.6
Max AC Output (KW) 2.8
Online it claims:
Lightweight — 24 percent lighter than comparable models
Quiet (59 dB), air cooled four-stroke engine
Energy efficient — 15.4 percent more fuel capacity
Strong enough to power a 13,500 BTU air conditioner
Consistent power load means you can use sensitive computer
equipment. Perfect for printers, computers, audio equipment and
telephone.
Long run time — up to 10 hours, depending upon the load
Dometic's 1-Year Plus Warranty
(See it here: http://dometic.com/f8b312df-7fcd-4078-8862-b5e0141a9932.fodoc )
Anyone have or used one?
Based on a good show price and the Dometc name (and a dealer I've dealt with in the past), I took a chance and bought one.
When I got home. I added oil (nowhere did it state whither it shipped with oil in the crankcase or not), fueled it and fired it up. Started easily and handled the load (converter, couple 120 volt lights, 32" LCD TV, and 1.5 kW heater (still too cold here to fire up the ac) easily and seemed very quiet. The Eco Throttle control handled load changes well.
I'm really intrested in hearing comments from others on this grnerator!

looks to be a decent quality genny with good power for it's size. Not overly quiet but far better than the run of the mill industrial type gennies alot of people use. On one site it is rated at 71 -74db.

I do have to say it is a lot lighter than my Honda though which is a good thing in some ways. Too bad they don't have a full set of specs anywhere.

that generator is a re-badged Magna generator that has been on the market for at least 3 years.
if you look up Magna Generator, you'll find it looks the same except it's red.
they have also been made under different brand names. they are made by a company in China and they'll put whatever brand name on it you want.
most Magna reviews have been very positive.

Dometic LW3000 generator
I purchased my new Dometic LW3000 generator on 3/3/11 and I am very pleased with it. It stands up to everything it is advertised to be and runs our 13,500 btu a/c just fine. Extremely quite, very light weight and the electric start is nice to have. I was considering getting the Honda EU3000 Handy or 2 of the EU2000 but just could not pass up the pricing on it at $800. So far in my book it's a winner, also the factory said that if I need service I can take it to any Kohler repair shop and they can get parts and or fix it when needed.

Put a deposit on one of these at the RV show in Calgary Alberta Yesterday & pick it up in a cpl weeks. They only had a model to see at the show & my work schedule precludes me picking it up until mid Feb. Read that it's quiet at 59db & at $795.00 plus tax it was a no brainer

Video Comparison
Found this You Tube Video comparing the Dometic LW3000 Plus vs the Generac ix2000. The Dometic seems very quiet in comparison. Will perform a similar experiment when I pick mine up using a Champion 1200 watt generator rated at 72 db IIRC

Here's a link to a video I took today with my Canon Powershot A530 camera on movie mode. It's a comparison between my old Hyundai 1250 peak wattage generator & the Dometic :LW3000Plus inverter generator.
The Dometic Manual claims 59db at idle & it does get louder once a load is placed on it but it is still significantly quieter than the Hyundai with no load.
Purchase price was $800 + taxes of 5% here in Alberta Canada and it was available as a special at the recent RV show in Calgary through the dealer Affordable RV
You can find other videos on my You Tube Channel under TMLHKYFN

Looks like a good choice. What does the unit weigh?

59 lbs and it has a handle in the base so it will wheel like a dolly. I'm thinking of making a cover for it to further reduce the db level
