dry camping and television

Dry camping in National Parks. My 2017 FRiver Surveyour batteries will run water heater, etc. The sound bar is wired in also to run off batteries. TV will not turn on because it's set up to run on wall socket. HOW do you wire the TV in(like the sound bar) to run off batteries? I have a battery bank and generators to recharge batteries. Watching TV, DVDS/downloads without running generators is the goal?

You connect an inverter to the 12v DC source and plug the TV into the inverter.

Since the tv is probably 120v AC and not a 12v DC tv, you'll need to get an INverter to run it.
I got a 400w inverter and plugged it into the round 12v outlet that is in the wall plate for the coax and antenna booster button.

Happiness is a 12vdc tv! No inefficient inverter use needed.

Have you seen any 12v Smart tvs? If there are, they're probably much more expensive than a comparable 110v Smart tv.
A 400w inverter is around $20 and can be used for charging devices.

so..

" plugged it into the round 12v outlet that is in the wall plate for the coax and antenna booster button." so, the coaxial antenna booster wall plate is always on, how do you get a workable electrical outlet?

If you mean a house 110v AC outlet, you need the outlet tied into an INverter.
Do you understand the difference between a CONverter and an INverter?
The coax antenna booster is 12v only.

How are you running your water heater off of batteries?

setup

Converter/inverter, yes. is there a hot and ground wire that goes to TV booster? if there is I can buy a outlet fot the TV power cord? Also, the sound bar below the TV is hard wired into power and is always on-can I hard wire TV into sound bar power line?

sound bar, water heater, refrigerator, water pump, furnace are all hard wired into trailer, all ALSO work on batteries absent shore power/generator, WFCO converter, (2023 model) cooking to add TV

You can get something like this to plug into the 12 volt power point socket, and from there plug your tv into it. On my Surveyor there is a 12v socket on the ceiling next to the antenna booster, which is intended for a 12volt tv to be used.

You can’t hardwire (cut and splice) a 120v tv and connect it directly to a 12volt line. You need an inverter. You could cut and splice inverter directly to the 12volt power lines and have a “fixed” inverter there, but to me that seems like a lot more unnecessary work if you have a 12v socket nearby.

follow up

" On my Surveyor there is a 12v socket on the ceiling next to the antenna booster, which is intended for a 12volt tv to be used. "

I have the same 12v socket, problem is this socket/ac outlet is dead when there no shore power/generator power, I'm trying to find a way to run TV off the batteries. The sound bar below TV works on batteries...

The TV booster button/switch runs off the batteries. Is there away to use this power supply to power TV. Seems like FRiver would add the TV to the list of stuff that runs off the batteries and/or shore power when available .

Here is a picture of mine, which I have a dedicated 12volt socket that is always powered. (Battery powered)

And also a picture of a new 2023 that appears to have a different setup. (Looks like a 120v plug-in for tv, powered by shore/on-board inverter? Or it is a dedicated 12v plug in too)

If you have no dedicated 12 volt plug-in socket that works, but you have 12v to the booster button, then yes you could cut and splice a small inverter to those wires. Or, cut and splice a 12 volt socket to use with a portable inverter. I cut and spliced a 12 volt socket in a different area of the trailer to 12v wiring so I could use the 12 volt power for my weboost cell booster.

Here's one:

Sometimes the extra cost is worth it when you consider all the extra support items necessary to achieve your goal with a "cheapie TV".

NO inverter needed with this one and it includes an integral DVD.

That looks like a good choice Mike. My Furrion in that size with the built in player I made a 'smart tv' by just popping an Amazon Firestick in the HDMI port. Only drawback to that is the firestick needs to be plugged in! But if I'm boondocking, I probably don't have wifi or good cell phone signal to leach off my phone anyway. Yes, I can use my built-in 1000w camper inverter, but it's horribly inefficient with light loads.

Does your TV have an empty USB port? You can also use that to power your firestick. No A/C power needed!!

I actually tried that. Apparently the USB port does not provide the current needed for the FireStick, it kept malfunctioning until I plugged it into the wall wart it came with. Good idea though, great minds think alike!

The easiest way would be post #13 seeing as the OP is a bit confused about the inverter.

Maybe so, but the cost saving with an inverter would buy another battery so he can watch more tv.
