Talking Dual battery & box upgrade complete

Needing something to do before "camping season" started, I decided to upgrade my power supply on our "new to us" trailer.
I removed the single 12 volt battery and I picked up 2 6 volt 230Ah batteries, a metal, lockable box from Canadian Tire, a master on/off switch, 50Amp circuit breaker, a bunch of wires and cables, and got to work.

Next step in the power supply will be adding some decent solar to the roof. I currently have one of those portable 40watt solar panels which I'll use until I can re-fund my project piggy bank.

Looks great! How did you secure the batteries inside the box?

Any chance of getting the brand and model number for the box. I really like that box and have been looking for one that size. Also nice job on the box. Did you add the vent holes to the side of it?

Dual battery & box upgrade complete

Thanks. It is made by a company called Larin, and is described as a VSB-2 "vehicle storage box set". I picked up the last one here and it doesn't look like they have restocked it here at our Canadian Tire yet. I installed the vents. They were white plastic ones I found in the roofing section of the local hardware store.
I bolted metal L stock to the base to make an area to secure the batteries and bolted seat belt eyelets to them to attach tie downs to, to secure the batteries.

That is one nice looking setup! I came across this box - a little smaller, but similar, should still hold 2 batteries:

No tax and free shipping (in the U.S. anyway) or Amazon also has it.

My problem with solar on the roof is that I am always wanting to park in the shade. I initially put the panels on the roof of my truck, but then when I go somewhere during the day I can't charge. So this is my current (pun intended) solution.

No holes in the roof.

9 amps is not to shabby for surplus 20 year old ARCO (now BP) panels.

I just collapse the stands and put the panels in the back of the truck. Takes 5 minutes to deploy. I just hope they don't grow leg and run away when we are not at the campsite. Thinking of cable locking to a tree or the camper.

Nice mod trikebubble with the toolbox. Lowes has a similar box that I'd like to do this mod with but cant find decent vents for the box. If you don't mind me asking where did you get the ones on the sides of you box?

Box still available at Canadian Tire

Just wanted to let you know that this box is still available ( Mar 2021) and fits perfectly between the propane tanks and the trailer on my 21SS. I can fit two 6v batteries with room to spare. Thanks for the original post, I spent a while finding the right fit. Should have come here first.
