electric/gas water heater will not turn off

The water heater on my 14 Georgetown makes hot water even when the water heater switch on the main panel is off and there is no gas to it. Is there another switch for the heater? I turned it off at the breaker, that worked.

You may want to check at the water heater itself on the left side you may find a switch there. that is how mine is setup

That breaker is for the electrical heating element in the tank. You must have the electric heating side of the water heater switched on. Pull the outside water heater access panel and look for a switch in the lower left hand side of the heater. That's probably switched to on. This location is predicated on your water heater being a Suburban water heater.

This FAQ should help fully explain the two modes of operation, and the TWO switches.

And make sure you are not confusing the "tank heaters" switch with the water heater switch. (if equipped)

The tank heater switch is for the heated pads on the holding tanks... not the water heater.
Many get confused on that one.

Yes, I saw that switch on the lower left of my tank. It has a cover over the top part- over off. I thought it might be the gas igniter switch.
