Electric tongue jack

My jack only works when plugged into shore power. Last year before storing it the jack would work when plugged into my TV. I've upgraded my TV since then but the jack doesn't work when I plug it in. My turn signals and brake lights work when I plug it up. Battery is fully charged. This is only our 2nd trip with this tt ansyonly thing I've changed is the TV. Any ideas on white start looking?

Not all TVs provide a 12V source from the trailer connection. If your jacks works when plugged into shore power but not when on battery then your battery is disconnected from your converter. Look for a disconnect switch some have a removable key and are hard to see.

Also for most vehicles today, it needs to be running to provide 12 volts to trailer battery as there is a relay to prevent battery drain when not running.

Ok. Thanks. I'll have a look when we get it back home. Would this disconnect switch be at the converter or near the battery?

Normally they are mounted somewhere by the battery maybe under the propane tanks (how mine is) anyway look around.

What make is your tow vehicle? I bought a new 14 F150 and it came with a fuse in a bag that I found in the glove box. I had that same power issue until I had the dealer install the fuse. Seems it was meant to power the connector to the trailer.

Hope this helps...

Depending on the make of your TV, you will need either a fuse or a fuse and a relay installed in the fuse box. These are usually provided as mentioned above, but not installed. If you have both a relay and a fuse, then the aux pin will only be powered when the ignition is on. This prevents killing the TV battery if you remain connected for a period of time.

Wobbles, I have a 2014 GMC Sierra SLT 1500 Crew cab 4x4. My old TV was a 2007 Chevy w/t 1500 crew cab. I left my owner manual at the house. I'll Google it and see if mine takes a fuse. Still it should work off the TT battery. Everything else does.

Fuse block had a diagram of what fuse goes to what. I have a separate fuse for TT battery and TT brake, both a 30 amp mini block fuse. The one to the TT battery was blown. Now when I get home I'll see why it won't work on the TT battery when I'm unhooked. Thanks for the help y'all!

It would help if you posted year/make/model of RV since it's not listed in your profile.

Well Grey Wolf TTs don't come with battery disconnect switches. Unless someone installed a battery disconnect switch, his TT doesn't have one.

Sorry, I didn't realize it wasn't in my profile. The original owner didn't do any mods to this TT. The blown fuse on my TV didn't solve the problem.

Problem solved. Someone had the plug on my truck wired wrong. The center pin labeled "backup lamp" had continuous power to it while the + pin had no power. So I put the truck in reverse and the + pin had power. Now I just gotta swap the wires in the harness around and I'm good to go! Thanks for the help y'all I really appreciate it!

It should work off the TT battery. Check the circuit breaker on the main power cable from the battery.

I had a bad battery too. But the big problem was I had no power going from my truck to the TT battery. Solved that problem this morning.

The truck doesn't really supply enough amperage to reliably operate the tongue jack. You need a good battery and/or shore power.
