Ends for making 50amp extension cords

I just got a new 50amp cord. I'd like to cut up my old one and make a couple of lengths of extension cords (thinking of approximately 5', 10', and 20' assuming my current cord is 35'). My father-in-law is good for the electrical side of things.

Does anyone have recommendations/links for where to buy male and female 50' amp connectors? Ideally, I would like to find ones with handles on them to make unplugging them easier.

Sweet. Any concerns with that Camco brand; I worry about their stuff most of the time.

They are nice quality ends that aren't actually manufactured by Camco. Camco just rebrands them. A m***n, err... happy camper cut through our site in their golf cart to get down to the lower field at a CG we were camping at 5 years ago and snagged our shore cable, and it ripped the cable clean off the male end and tipped over the powerpost in the process! Closest RV dealer had the Camco ends so that's what I used for a quick field repair and the CG owner loaned an extension so we could use another post. Camped 213 nights after the repair and never a problem with the Camco end! I just purchased two 30A sets (male-female) and am in the process of making my own 25' and 50' extensions too since I got a spool of cable for free. The only things I do that maybe not spelled out is that I immerse the contacts, after clamping the wires to them, with dielectric grease and then put the two connector halves together. Just to keep out moisture and air a little better so corrosion doesn't become an issue.

Oh, and yes, the family was banned from the CG for life and the owners no longer allow golf carts or similar except for those who are handicapped. Only takes one to spoil the fun!

Most RV stores carry them. You might be able to save a little money buying on line, but then the freight might eat up any savings.

Just a reminder (I'm sure you already know this), but these ends will not be water proof or even seater repellant. I,ve made my own & each end (male & female) were about $20 each. Work well.

I used the 50 AMP connectors from Camping World. I spliced my original cable on my 38FL because I couldn't see leaving my Progressive Industries surge protector and power cable out for all to steal. I cut holes into my basement floor and installed cable hatches to run the new cables into the basement where I located my surge protector.

Worked great, but I have to say working with the wires in the close space inside the connectors was a challenge.

Good luck,
Don

My local hardware/lumberyard carries the ends. I've seen them in Lowe's also.
