F150's 7.2 kW "Pro Power Onboard" 30A/240V outlet

Regarding the F150's 7.2 kW "Pro Power Onboard" 30A/240V outlet...

Is that connection (NEMA L14-30R) compatible with a 50-amp RV's connector?

I know that it's a no-no to plug a 30-amp RV into 240W (although I bet people will start doing that), but will this thing work with the 50amp units?

If the 240V output is two 120 volt legs that measure 240 between them, and has a neutral, you can use it for a 50 amp service although you'll be limited to the max wattage of the Pro Power itself.

Guess one would have to contact Ford for that specific information. I haven't found anything on the web yet.

If it is 240V then for 30 amp RV use you would need adapter that leave one hot lead out. They make them to go from a standard 240v 50A to 120v 30A, not sure if they make one from that outlet or if you need to make your own.

I doubt if it would not be 240V however, I have not seen an RV that uses 240V for anything you could use that outlet for a 50A unit either way. The only risk if they are 2 120V in phase is overloading the neutral wire. since 50A 120v is 6,000 watts and the generator only being 7,200 watts (probably surge), the odds of causing any issues is almost zero.

This truck was made for Contractors who could well be running 240 volt equipment, like a Mig Welder. I doubt the outlet is a 50 amp outlet but rather a 30 amp 120/240 twist lock. Think outside the box.

Since the output is rated for 7.2 Kva I'm going to think it's 30 amp on the 240 volt output.

All the pictures I see on the web show a NEMA L14-30 receptacle in the power station, so you'll need an adapter for whichever amp service your RV have.

I have a couple of "generator" adapters for both 30 amp and 50 amp RV's because my generator has the L14-30 receptacle on it.

It's definitely 30A/240V. Bama Rambler...do you really think this can be used with a 30A RV/TT even with an adapter (as can be done at RV pedestals with 50A connections)?? I found this:

It is important to note that you can not plug your 30-amp RV into that plug because it puts out 240 volts. RVs are intended to run on 120 volts. At this moment you can only plug into the standard 20 amp outlets.

With the proper adapter you will be fine. A 30A RV adapter will only use 1 hot, neutral and ground. The 2nd hot will not be used.

Each hot is 120v to neutral, 240V is between the 2 hots.

Pro Power Onboard

There are three levels of power depending on your choice of engine and options: 2kw, 2.4kw, and 7.2kw.

The Ford brochure says:

The 2 and 2.4 kw units have two 120v 20a outlets.

The 7.2kw unit has:
Optional PowerBoost / Outlets in bed: Four 120V 20A, one 240V NEMA L14-30R

My guess is that if you want any of these you'll need pretty deep pockets.

Here's a link from Ford:

As mentioned, with the proper adapter you can plug your 30 amp 120 volt RV into the power center. Generator to 30 amp RV plug only uses one hot leg of the L14-30 plug.

Ok...I guess where folks run in to problems is when they plug their 30-amp RVs directly into older 240-volt dryer outlets that look like 30-amp 120-volt RV outlets or into dedicated RV outlets that some electrician/relative wired to 240 volts because it looks like a dryer outlet
