The use of the emergency start switch will put the coach and chassis batteries in parallel. It's just something that will eliminate the possibility of a bad/low charged coach battery when a 12 volt item will not function ie. steps, genny etc.. If the item functions when emergency start is switched that would indicate a low charged coach battery. If the item still does not function when switched that may indicate something other than a battery issue. It's just a tool that may or may not be useful if shore power is not available. 2 persons may be required to accomplish this. Of course, this is predicated upon having an emergency start switch. Every MH I have owned had one but I suppose there are units out there that do not.
