GC 2

Hi All,

What GC 2s do you like for the money? I’m in the market for a couple and I want to avoid the lesser quality options. What’s proven and fairly priced?

Thanks

Bryan

I'll be following this thread as I'm going to buy 4 in the next day or so. My inclination is to get the cheap interstates my local Costco has for $98. I really take good care of my batteries so I think I'll get 5 years out of them easily. $15/batt core charge.

I'm into 3rd season with my pair of Deka (East Penn) GC2 batts. They were 144 each three years ago, same today. I am hoping for at least 10 years out of them.

I bought a couple of Duracell units from Sam's Warehouse 14 months ago for $90 each (plus a core charge of $18 each or turn in 2 old batteries). The Duracell units have slightly better numbers than the Interstate.

My GC2's from Napa Auto (East Penn brand) are 9 years old and still going strong.

That's what I wanted to hear. I paid more for East Penn, hoping they will go 10 years. And I'm guessing you Boondock more based on your name. I hardly have at all, just one night layover mid trip.

I'm running 2 US Battery 2200 XC2 for the third season now. I was looking at the old standard Trojan T105, but US Battery had a little bit better specs and were better priced.

I paid more for mine also and quite pleased with the purchase. I boondock about 99% of the time.

I went ahead a went the cheapo route. These batteries were $90 at Costco. I've already spent too much on this project, but I think they'll be OK. Like I mentioned, I try to take good care of my batteries.

if you got 4, that's not exactly cheap! Nice tray, where is it going to mount?

The coach originally had 2 grp24 batteries in a tray.

I had this tray made. It was pricey, that's why I had to cut back on some things like really good batteries. It will mount up behind the fuel tank. Because it is not easily accessible, I put a remote watering system on them.

The old battery location will house some electronics like in this mock up. There's a 2000w PSW inverter, a 40amp solar controller, a shunt for the battery monitor and various fuses, circuit breakers, battery disconnect, etc.
