Generac Connection

I have a small Generac generator (1200). Is there a step I'm missing when I connect it to my Cascade? With all power off in the camper, as soon as I connect, the genset overloads and shuts down. It shows it has an open ground. Do I need to ground to the camper frame?

Welcome to the forum its a great place to get your questions answered. It could be your converter overloading the generator. You are only talking slightly over 10 amps of power from the generator. Just a guess on my part.

1200W does seem a bit small for a 30A camper. I'm guessing you need around a 1800W-2000W genny. Can you borrow one to test the theory?

Turn off all breakers in the RV and try again. You need to determine if the gen is shutting down due to overload or ground issues. If it still shuts down with no load then it could be a ground issue. The link below will solve a ground issue if that is what it is.
