generator help!!!

I need help. What is the difference between an inverter generator and a standard generator? Also will a 2000w Honda run my AC in a wildcat 5th wheel? What size would be recommended? I have no room to carry in my truck bed and the carry rack built onto the back will hold 250lbs. That's what it says. Don't want to break it off.

An inverter generator is MUCH quieter since the generator doesn't have to run at 3600 RPM to maintain the 60 Hz. Its able to go down to idle when it only needs to provide a couple hundred watts, then increase RPM as needed. Without, it constantly runs at 3600 RPM. Unless you have an Atwood 13.5k AC unit, most likely won't be able to use a Honda 2k generator. Look into a Champion 3100 (<100 lbs), or a pair of Honda/Yamaha 2KW that can be paired to produce 4KW. We have the Champion and it fits our needs to run our 15k AC unit just fine. If your planning to run more than just the AC, you'll need to pair some generators to get somewhere up to the 4KW range...

No input on generator but you might want to look at adding a Supco Super Boost SPP6 relay and hard start capacitor to your air units. I have added these and they sure help on generator loading when air is on.

You could also purchase a pair of Champion 2000's and the parallel kit.

I looked up the Champion 3100 and the one I find is the dual/fuel for around 900 bucks. Is this the one you are talking about? It appears to have everything I would need.

I bought ours refurbished off eBay from SuperGen products for $499, free shipping. Haven't had an issue yet after about 50 hrs so far. If you want a new unit, I think Costco/Cabelas had the cheapest deal. All depends if you need dual fuel or remote start or parallel capable...there different models accordingly. Hope it helps.
