Generator Power

The have a Honda EU 2000i generator that can be paired with the same unit. I would like to know if this generator can power a Dometic 13,500 BTU Air conditioner In my travel trailer or do I need to purchase a companion for my Honda?

Unless you put a soft start kit in, NO, you can't run it on a Honda 2000i.
I own the same generator.
So you can either get the companion or a second 2000i or install a soft start kit, like MicroAir.

I have two Wen 2000s, not the same generator as yours, but very similar in capability. I specifically did an experiment in which I tried to run the AC on one generator. No go.

When I parallel them, the 4000 peak and 3600 running watts successfully power everything in my r-pod.

My Honda EU 2000i WILL start and run my 13,500 BTU/Hr A/C ..... but only at sea level. It has never failed to start the A/C but at higher elevations, it quits after a while. At 5000 feet it stops running in about three minutes. So, marginal at best IMHO.

Im running my A/C with single eu2200 and the micro-air easy start. It's quite the savings to run the micro-air over another honda genny. Super easy hook up too.

We have an EU2200i Companion unit and a 15K A/C fitted with the Micro-Air Easy Start. The single 2200i starts and runs the Micro-Aired 15K A/C fine, albeit at a high RPM. But, the 2200i puts out 1800 watts versus the 1600 watts of the 2000i.

After a week of dry camping in high 80s/low 90s, we have decided that a second, paralleled 2200i may be in order. Hopefully, this will actually lower generator RPM and be more quiet than a single 2200i at high RPM. In the spring and fall (when A/C is not needed) we will bring just the single 2200i Companion unit.

Considering that you have a 13.5 A/C, if you acquired a second paralleled 2000i unit, it may comfortably run the A/C without installing an easy-start. Finding another 2000i would be your challenge. Also note that, while the 2200i can be paralleled with some 2000i units, it depends on the serial number of the 2000i. Look on page 35 of the 2200i Manual.
