The whole world is metric, yet the US clings to a system that even the country of origin no longer uses. Silly americans!

So my Ryobi **** the bed... It was giving me constant problems that usually fixed themselves with a carb clean. Its running rough and pinging a lot. Its 13 years old and owes me nothing...

I'm leaning towards a single eu2200i at this point to see how things work.
No AC but it will charge and run the Keurig and other 120VAC needs in the short term. If need be I'll buy a second in time to parallel. I like the idea of the nurse tank.

Where are the best deals for the Hondas?

Non-inverter generators must run at exactly 3600rpm to generate 60 Hz AC power. They can't idle and produce useful power. 60Hz is 60 revolutions/second x 60 seconds/minute is 3600. revolutions/minute (rpm).

Mine are old and before the companion, but you can get parallel kits with a standard RV 30amp plug, so it doesnt really matter.
Oh, and there are rarely any deals on Hondas Just keep searching and occasionally you can find a sale for a few dollars off, or go to an RV rally/show and they might have a deal.

I see some random options online for eu2200i in the sub $700 range but I'm guessing "too good to be true"...

gennys and inverter gennys are a hot item anymore and new units make and models are being introduced all the time...

youtube has dozens of comparisons between units...

Some have the money to spend to buy a HONDA and are rarely if EVER disappointed with their purchase... some buy the cheaper units for 1/3 the price and will typically be happy but not always...

you have to decide what you need and what you can afford after doing some shopping around. I sometimes see Hondas for $50 off and maybe free shipping. DO a lot of google searches and signup for all the emails/catalogs that yu can get and wait for a sale and then jump on it...

If you're gonna drop coin on a Honda, get it somewhere you know the warranty will be honored, not some non-authorized dealer with shady warranty service.

For $50, I'll just buy retail at a big box. Time is money. I have a sick son so my time with him is worth more than the bargain hunt.

I'm heading out to grab a new eu2200i tomorrow.

Just to confirm, with 2 units running parallel and with a nurse tank (easy enough looking mods online to throw a petcock on the cap) I can run the AC overnight with no soft start needed on the AC?

Thanks all!

Exactly. I have been doing it for 15 years with 2 EU2000is. The EU2200is will do an even better job!

The 2200i is now available with bluetooth to remote stop and monitor. The dealer I bought from only had 1 with so I opted for 2 without. Being able to shut them off without going outside in the middle of the night would be worth the $50 per unit imo.

I had not seen this shutoff option! I am considering selling my old EU2000is and buying the bluetooth 2200s!! My wife would love it. She stays up late watching TV and has to go outside to turn off the generators

Warranty will be honored at any authorized Honda dealer no matter where you buy it.

Ok, I thought it might be like a wristwatch, where if you buy from some grey market dealer, warranty is not valid.

I got a good deal on a 2200 off the internet, new in box, back when Honda stopped making them for awhile because of gas valve issues?

I registered it with Honda (didn't ask for proof of purchase, only date when purchased) a few months later they sent me a recall letter for 2 things, gas valve and something else I don't recall and said to take it to any Honda repair dealer to get fixed. Dropped it off and it was repaired, no questions asked.

Since I have a habit of losing receipts (or not having one to begin with) I asked Honda about warranty work and not having a receipt, they told me that as long as you registered it, warranty would not be a problem.

Install a small inverter and you wouldn’t have to run the genny at night at all.

In my neck of the woods "Nebraska" its the local John Deere dealer display at the State Fair. Usually 15 - 20% off. Other than that, I dont recall seeiig any real sales offered.

The Honda kicked arse this past week in New Hampshire.
Gone are the days of me telling the family to watch the usage.
Thanks for the help and advice!

Did you go with the Companion and the regular model paralleled or did you parallel with a cable that included a 30A receptacle?

I bought a used EU2200i Companion for $800 with 231-hours on the engine and detailed maintenance records. Not cheap, but it is in fantastic condition. Runs our 15K Mach with a Micro-Air easy start, albeit at a higher RPM than I'd prefer. Thinking of adding a second EU2200i and paralleling them (w/nurse tank) to reduce noise.

I just bought the standard unit.
When/if I decide to add a second unit I'll get the companion for parallel.
For now I just use a 30a-20a conversion plug direct into the camper.
With my 230aH of 6V supply, I never dipped below full on the cheapo intelli-view meter.
I probably ran for an hour/day total with stock WFCO converter.
This is with minimal use, and a bit of heat in the mornings to keep my daughter happy.
