generator problems

Onan 5500 rv generator code 45. Sensor, Belt? Do it yourself or take to a dealer? Any input would be helpful.

how old is the generator? onan has a 2 year warranty on the entire generator and 3 years on major components. if within the warranty period i would contact onan. they get good reviews. from what i have seen eror ode 45 has something to do with the control board not being able to sense the output power frequency, but don't quote me on that. there were several posts in various blogs when i did a search on onan error code 45.
