Honda 2000 plug questions

Hey guys, thanks in advanced

I just came across a smaller generator a Honda EU2000i which one have standard 120v plugs

Does like 13.3 Amps and I know my RV is 20amp plug

If I grab a plug to go from my 20amp to a standard 120v wall plug like generator had can I use this??? To change battery's on the camper for 12v fridge and also lights etc... I know it will not do the a/c but it's cold now so....

That will work, but I would run the fridge on propane ( 12V control board). The converter, CO/Propane detector, will draw some current. The 12V fridge ( if not on propane), converter, furnace fan may get you close to the breaker limit on the Honda.

X 2, good idea to move Fridge to Propane.I do that as well on Generator. Don't forget your Water Heater, that takes close to 10 amps.

Your Wolf Pup should be 30 amp, not 20 amp.
Especially with an a/c.

Or plug RV cable into gen and flip the breakers inside the camper so it just charges battery's???

You can use the converter, much slower than a external charger. Use a external charger to get it done faster.

That is what I was thinking.... nice and easy.... charge the batteries and I can go a while

One of the generators I have is a eu2000i and it is a great little unit. As others have stated, if run your fridge and WH off of gas and you don't intend to use the AC, that generator will work out fantastic and be capable of handling everything else in your camper.
When I have taken mine boondocking, I was able to run all of my appliances (1 at a time of course) including my microwave, coffee pot, frying pan and even my wife's hairdryer and curling iron.

The converter in your unit will do a better job charging the batteries than an external automotive charger. Also easier to use. The only exception is if the battery is very depleted where the inrush of current might blow the protection fuse.

I've been plugging the shore cord of my HTT, into my Honda 2000i for 10 years now.
The trailer's converter recharges the dual batteries easily and promptly.
No need for a separate battery charger.

To plug it into your Honda, all you need is a 30 to 20 amp adapter.
I use the simple hockey puck adapter I got at Walmart.

Those are worthless compared to the converter or a battery charger.
Those 12v wires barely provide a charge would take hours to recharge a depleted battery.
Hooking up jumper cables from the tow vehicle, would also be faster.

Wow, that was aggressive! Sorry for offending or upsetting you but I wasn't comparing the cord to anything or other methods. I was simply providing information and an option for the use of the generator.

sorry you took that as aggressive, i didn't mean it to be taken that way.

it's just that it's pretty well known on RV forums that the 12v wires for the Honda are a last resort use. they are very inefficient.

i apologize if you took it that way.

The typical stock WFCO converter will take longer than a good dedicated battery charger because it will often not provide over 13.6 volts, even though it is supposed to. A depleted battery needs 14+ volts to recharge quickly, then goes to 13.6 and eventually to 13.2 as a trickle charge to maintain battery. Many of us have upgraded to a Progressive Dynamics Converter to get this multistage charging.
