17.5KW isn't that big. I have a 30KW diesel outfit I run the farm with. Makes 220 /3 as well as 110 /1 and 220/1 All about economy of scale and what your rerquirements are and of course your wallet. My 30KW unit is a John Deere.

325BH specifically said he was running "portables". Lets stay on topic.

The point I was trying to make was I'm not new to generators. Buying a couple of inverter-types is simply another in a list of generators I have owned. In other words, trying to give assurance that they are a good choice.
I have considered larger inverter types to better match my 50amp camper, however the form-factor of the 2000 watt generators are too good to pass up. That and considering my actual needs for a generator while camping, more than 4000 watts just isn't required.

Yamaha
I bought a 2000 Yamaha Inverter 5 years ago. Has everything the Honda has including the ability to gang them together for about 400 bucks cheaper. A very quiet unit but I will admit the Hondas I have heard tend to be a little quieter. I use it to charge my boat batteries, (has twelve volt charger built in). Whenever I plug the trailer into it I shut off my converter in the trailer as it is a waste of power. Runs the microwave no problem. They're small so you don't want to try to run everything at once.

There are several 2000 peak inverter gennys out there now days.
Honda is one that is top rated for reliability and quiet.
Others are very close and somewhat cheaper. If you use good oil and take reasonable care you would be hard pressed to wear out any brand.
As mentioned your converter/battery charger can up the load but most
rigs you can flip a breaker(s) and shut that off briefly while you use
the microwave if necessary. You might not need to do this but simply
try it and see. If the genny trips it's breaker you can learn from that.
Also remember if you have dual heat hot water you want to shut the
electric side off AND if your refrigerator is set on AUTO it will switch to
electric operation as soon as you fire up your genny so you might need to
put the refer on Gas only mode.
My Honda will charge my batteries on economy mode and it's really quiet and
just sips gas then. It speeds up when DW uses the microwave but for
charging alone you want a genny that has the hi/low speed economy option!
Good luck and Happy Trails!

I would recommend the extended run kit for the generator if it can be had. I have one for our duel EU2000's and it is great to go a whole trip without a fuel up.

Just for your info you can buy a Boliy 3600SI cheaper than a Honda and has electric start and will run a 13500 ac. Around $1100 and free shipping. Also db rating is almost identical. You can change the Jets for the higher altitude. also. Later RJD

Make sure that when you compare generators you compare apples to apples.
While the Boliy 3000 says it has a loudness rating of 53-58db, it is measured at 23 feet away from the generator.
Home
The published rating of the Honda 2000 has a loudness rating of 53-59db BUT it is measured at NINE (9) feet.
The equivalent power Honda 3000i has a loudness rating of 57-65db, again measured at 9 feet.
Honda EU2000i Model Info | Super Quiet 2000 Watt Inverter Generator | Honda Generators
Sound energy dissipates exponentially over the distance traveled so the Boliy generators are actually several magnitudes louder than the equivalent Hondas.

EU2000i is being jetted as I type. I bought locally even though it was cheaper online. Sometimes cheaper turns out to be more expensive and in this rural area I like supporting local businesses.
I appreciate everyones input on this thread - gave me more confidence in my decision.

Excellent choice for all the reasons you mentioned.
Post back once you've used it a few times and let us know your thoughts.

Very Happy With EU2000i
I've been running (breaking-in) the Honda eu2000i with the #60 jet (I'm at 7,000 plus ft elevation) and started testing it on the appliances in my MicroLite. I couldn't be happier! I can run the microwave along with bath fan, stove top vent fan, interior/exterior lights, stereo simultaneously. Same for the air conditioner et al. I cannot run the air and microwave at the same time (microwave alone draws 1,400watts on start-up.). The TT is still winterized so I could not experiment with the water heater/pump. For now at least it appears a single eu2000i will work fine.
Thanks for all the helpful advice on this and many other threads.

Interesting that the new Honda EG2800I is rated at 61-69 db @ 23 feet.

Nice. If you need a hair more juice shut off the convertor breaker. It will save a few amps to use somewhere else.
