Hughes Autoformers won't work with generator

Got a Wen generator last year and it won't work with our Hughes 30 Auotperformer EPO, states loss of ground. Ran a wire from ground lug on front of generator to trailer frame, no luck. Sawed off a household ground rod and drove into earth and ran wire to gen ground lug, no luck. Is there some where beside trailer frame the generator needs grounded?

On the generator, connect the negative/neutral terminal of the 120-volt output to the ground terminal of the 120-volt output.

You can buy a plug that is wired to do this. It is agenerator bonding plug. I made my own by using a standard 120-volt plug and added a jumper.

The EMS is looking for neutral and ground. Has nothing to do with external wiring or grounding.

Most generators do not have a neutral to ground bond. Also unlike houses, most if not all RVs do not have a neutral to ground bond in the panel. Thus when using a generator it is necessary to add this bond. Google neutral to ground bonding for generators and you will see a method to do this. Use to you could buy the simple plugs pre-made but due to liabilities you may have to make your own now.

This is what you need if you do not want to make your own. Just plug it in to the generator and plug your power cable to your trailer into the generator also.
