My TT has an electrical junction box attached to the frame. The pigtail is connected to the trailer wiring inside this box with wire nuts.

Make sure you unhook your battery and are not plugged into shore power before making repairs. Helps in keeping the sparks down. Stormy

My Surveyor has an access panel screwed to the underbelly. I'm sure you have already looked but personally I would replace the entire cord about 5 or 6ft. The only time I would splice would be to get me somewhere to replace it.
