Left blinker won't work on 2012 Rockwood Windjammer

Help - ever since we installed our backup camera the left blinker won't work - we've retraced our steps, have tested fuses, bulbs, lines, etc. All blinkers work on the truck. I'm considering running a separate line to it. Any comments appreciated.

Well here's my first thought: I would disconnect the back up camera then see IF the left blinker would work. Then IF it did I would go over the wiring diagram for the camera well before attempting to hook it back up. Now IF the left blinker does not work with the camera disconnected you will have a different problem

I'm assuming that since you have a 2012 that it didn't come with camera prep, so you had to splice the camera into power found on the RV. In that case, I'd suspect that a wire got pulled loose when installing the camera.

I'd take a multimeter and check continuity of the left turn signal circuit. Check the ground also, because it could be that instead of the hot wire.

I'd probably remove the fixture on that side and check the wiring behind it.

My left signal light stopped working. I found a tiny blown fuse in the fuse box under the hood of my truck. I’d check truck fuses before I broke the seal on a fixture.

Thanks, but we've done all that was suggested - the camera was hooked into one of the top lights - we used a meter to check all wires continuity, we checked all fuses, at a loss for a remedy, short of running a separate wire directly.

I spent a lot of time wrenching trucks and whenever a truck came in with electrical problems, lights etc., the culprit most of the time was the ground. You could determine that power was going to the light by grounding the test light to the frame but make sure you test the ground wire is actually grounding.

Good luck, diagnosing electrical can be trying.

Yep usually a ground. I'd pull the light and check all the grounds. Also check the connection under the front of the trailer where the connection comes in from the truck. Sometimes related things are just by change and not actually related.

If you could get your hands on a power probe would be the best but you can build one out of a battery and some jumper wires. Put power at the bulb and IF it lights(the blinker not the tail light) start working backward. By the way, does the brake light work?

I assume the brake light isn't working. If it is, I'm lost.

I'd start at the truck plug in. Just because the light is blinking on the truck doesn't mean there is juice at the plug. Work your way back including the junction box at the front of the trailer, assuming there is one.
Another quick test, if you can remove just the lens, is to put in a new bulb or the bulb from the right side in the socket and test.
One more thing to try with the lens off would be running a temporary wire that has a for sure ground to the ground of the left side fixture or test for continuity to ground.
If you find out the ground is bad and you are wondering why the tail/running lights are working it is because they are "stealing" ground from the other tail/running lights on your rig.
If the ground IS bad then you may have to remove the left fixture to fix.

I hope this helps.

Disconnect the camera. Get the light working. Start over.

On some TVs the trailer lights have separate fuses from the TV lights. Check your TV manual and verify you are checking the proper fuse.

Just move to Maryland, turn signals are optional equipment here... Jokes aside, does the problem only present itself when you are hooked to the trailer? Or have you lost the turn signal when unhooked as well?
