I am thinking dual purpose use. Rv and home back up use ad well. With all the summer storms we have been getting a backup would be nice. The 6500 is the way to go maybe?

Consider how you're going to transport that monster. A 6500 isn't going to run a home AC, I don't think it will sit least, but two smaller ones tethered up will more than keep a house alive. I've run two fridges, tv, computer and internet off mine all at once with power to spare with my 4500 (3500 continuos.) but at 300lbs it's not user friendly if you get my meaning.

I have two of the Champion 2000i's with the parallel cable. I bought them for the rare times that there is no other power available. I had not used them other then to check them out with the 5ver when I first got them until a few weeks ago. We go to this big reunion every year on this guys ranch. He has water hookups but, thats it. I only took one as I knew I would not need AC. In Eco mode it ran 12 hours on one gallon of fuel. I used the TV with a DTV HD receiver, had the furnace running and lights. It ran a little harder (and louder) when using the microwave or the coffee pot. Put it under one of the rear slides with the exhaust facing out the back. While you could hear it wasn't all that bad. I am happy with my Champoins.

Did I read that right, 12 hours on ONE gallon of fuel?

Agreed, we have a EU6500IS and it's a 260+ Lb BEAST to move but it's a whisper quiet powerhouse and fuel sipper. It's a pretty amazing genset running the 15K and 13.5K AC with power to spare and doing it so quietly.
I think a catalytic converter and fuel injection would sweeten them up even more.

Yep, they're amazingly efficient. Part of why I wish I went the dual 2000 route, an old friend of mine has the dual 2000 setup and running both he only burns a couple of gallons a day to my five gallons under the same conditions.

Will one Honda EU2000 run a 13.5 btu AC? Especially if it's a new AC unit? I'd like to go with the Honda for noise and reliability, just need to know if I have to buy 1 or 2...

Kinda. We found that it would, but it was working itself to death. It would run the microwave with no problem along with whatever else he wanted to do. But the AC on startup sounded sluggish then the genset was continuing to work hard to run it. We never measured the voltage but it was easy to tell it wasn't happy at all.

But with the duals running they would barely grunt when the AC would fire up. I'd get the dual setup, that way if you're out and don't need AC, just run one. Need AC, run two.

Honestly compared to a household backup generator in that power range cost wise it's probably comparable and useful to take camping.

I was shocked at how much a 13k home backup would cost.

I have a basic Honda clone, @67 decibels that I use when camping in the woods. It also serves as home back up. When power is out for any length of time, I run one RV a/c and freezer in house for 4 hours, then frig in house for 4 hours, alternating. Everything else can wait.

I purchased a Champion 3100 watt inverter generator from Amazon for $741.00 including shipping and tax. Received it exactly when they said. Pulled it out of the box added oil and gas. it started on the second pull. I was very surprised that it was so quiet. I had on the hi speed. On ECO mode it's very quiet. At $741.00 I got a 3100 watt unit. I'm sure the H and Y are great units. At twice the price.

My wife and I went overboard last year when generator shopping. We found a Champion 7kw generator at Costco for $549. It even has remote start. Definitely way overkill, but the ability to remote start was the selling point for me. It's also cheaper than many 3kw generators, like Honda. Noisy? Yes... it's extremely noisy. But it runs literally everything, and more. We don't camp at campgrounds, so the noise is irrelevant. Unfortunately, it's over 300 pounds. I have to use a ramp to put it in the bed of the truck, but I can also store it inside the toy hauler. It is, in fact, just another toy

i purchased the same one last september. I have close to 100 hours on it and not a single issue. i have chaged the oil on it 3 times so far. It has ran my 15k ac in 98 degree temps without an issue. I have even been complimented on how quite it is. granted not a quite as the honda but its a lot cheaper and has a good warranty

It's great to hear that you haven't had any problems. Also great to hear it runs your ac. I have a 2014 LaCrosse 323rst with a 15,500 ac. Have not tried it out yet. do you use it with a surge protector. From what I understand an inverter generator won't need it. Thanks

FWIW...the Yamaha ef3000 may NOT be paralleled...pg. 7 owners manual. The B version would be best for running an AC if you don't do the pair of 2000's.
