We have an old (2008) CHEAP generator we bought for hurricane Ike. Chicago brand maybe? It says 5500 on the side, but it seems to be really much less than that.
Is there a way to test the generator to see how much electricity it is putting out? I'm sorry. I don't even know if that is the right question to ask.
Hubby seems dead set against buying a new generator. Never mind the fact that he has to use an engine hoist to get this thing in the back of the truck! And it's loud! :/

Chicago Electric generators are a house-brand of Harbor Freight.
